Kaziuko Muge

St. Casimir’s fair (Kaziuko Muge) is a huge annual fair/ festival that occurs annually in the streets of Vilnius during the first weekend of March. This fair dates back all the way to the beginning of the 17th century and has experienced many changes throughout its many years of celebration. Merchants peddling traditional goods can be seen covering the streets, and have been part of the celebration for centuries. Over time, street performers and music concerts have become a common sight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nowadays, crowds upon crowds of people from all over the world have began attending the fair. The city of Vilnius can become congested with people from huge cities like Moscow, Warsaw and Vienna. This fair takes place on the first Sunday of March. The date of the festival, along with its origins, have strong ties to a famous religous figure in Lithuania, St. Casimir. Recently, however, the fair has become increasingly thematic. Meaning that a certain part of the fair is devoted to the current theme.

 

Newcomers to the fair could see all-manner of interesting things such as artwork, dances, and traditional foods from all over Europe. All in all, Kaziuko muge is a great event in which you can go from buying a souvenir to meeting people from countries all around the world. Learn more

About Us

Our community is the 9th grade class of the American International School of Vilnius. Our school is located in the capital of a small country in the Baltics called Lithuania. Our class is fairly small; we have 8 native Lithuanians, 5 students who have lived in Lithuania for more than one year, and one student who just came to Lithuania this year. Most of us have lived in Lithuania for many years and are fairly knowledgable when it comes to Kaziuko Muge. So when we were informed about the CyberFair, we thought it was a great opportunity to share our information and culture with the rest of the world. 

Our community is very passionate about this topic and, besides all the hard work, it was a pleasure to put together. Our grade consists of 14 students: 8 boys and 6 girls, and all of us enjoyed doing this project. Throughout the process, we found that our community is very supportive, focused and well organized. We tried to help each other as much as possible, and tried to get all of our work done for each of our topics as well as keep all of our information organized so it would be easier to work with. All in all, having a great community such as ours, really helped us make this project enjoyable and fun.
